چکیده

The full-bridge submodule (FBSM)-based modular multilevel converter (FBSM-MMC) offers promising performance due to its ability output negative FBSM voltage. This paper studies this of the FBSM-MMC under zero-sequence voltage injection (ZSVI) and second-order harmonic current (SHCI). focus research is redistribute powers by injecting an additional power degree freedom, resulting in a smaller capacitor ripple, while keeping maximum AC for given fundamental frequency component arm reference. Accordingly, control strategy was developed, based on non-sinusoidal ZSVI, SHCI proposed further improving FBSM-MMC. ZSVI contains higher sinusoidal third-order than that pure (THVI) when operating same By implementing solution, amplitude injected can be achieved, producing lower loss Considering relationship voltages are also discussed. Finally, simulation results experimental presented verify effectiveness theoretical analysis method.

Modified Modular Multilevel Converter

The modular multilevel converter (MMC) is receiving extensive research interests in high/medium voltage applications due to its modularity, scalability, reliability, high voltage capability and excellent harmonic performance. The submodule capacitors are usually quite bulky since they have to withstand fundamental frequency voltage fluctuations. To reduce the capacitance of these capacitors, th...

Trade-Off Strategies in Designing Capacitor Voltage Balancing Schemes for Modular Multilevel Converter HVDC

This paper focuses on the engineering trade-offs in designing capacitor voltage balancing schemes for modular multilevel converters (MMC) HVDC: regulation performance and switching loss. MMC is driven by the on/off switch operation of numerous submodules and the key design concern is balancing submodule capacitor voltages minimizing switching transition among submodules because it represents th...

Modeling and Design of Modular Multilevel Converters for Grid Applications

This thesis aims to bring clarity to the dimensioning aspects and limiting factors of the modular multilevel converter (MMC). Special consideration is given to the dc capacitors in the submodules as they are a driving factor for the size and weight of the converter. It is found that if the capacitor voltages are allowed to increase by 10% the stored energy must be 21 kJ/MW in order to compensat...

Simplified model and submodule capacitor voltage balancing of single-phase AC/AC modular multilevel converter for railway traction purpose

A single-phase AC/AC modular multilevel converter (MMC) can interact directly with 25 kV railway grid without a bulky 50 Hz step-down transformer. This brings in great savings in size and cost. Submodule (SM) voltage balancing of this kind of MMCs remains a major technique issue. This study proposes a voltage-balancing solution for this scenario which consists of intraand inter-arm voltage bala...

Submodule Algebras

The complement operation on modules has not been argued so far as we know. We observe that it plays an important role in software maintenance, as well as join and meet operations. A de nition of a module and operations on them is given in category theoretic terms; we adopt well-known characterization of complement as a left adjoint to join. The de nition is rst given locally and then extended t...
